The Budget Office of the Federation has announced that the full-year 2024 Budget Performance Report (BPR) will be published by the end of September 2025, alongside consolidated reports for the first and second quarters of 2025.
The Office said the move will restore quarterly publications to their statutory schedule, in line with the Fiscal Responsibility Act.
In a statement issued Friday, the Budget Office explained that the delay was due to efforts to ensure accuracy, transparency, and credibility in Nigeria’s fiscal reporting. It said the release of credible data is crucial to upholding Nigeria’s standing with citizens, markets, and development partners.
“A provisional Budget Performance Report for FY 2024 will be released by the end of September 2025. This interim publication, based on verified funding commitments, will provide a reliable snapshot of fiscal performance while detailed project-level verification continues through 2025,” the statement read.
The Office added that from the third quarter of 2025, all Budget Implementation Reports will be published on schedule, thereby restoring compliance with statutory timelines.
It also said monitoring systems are being enhanced, collaboration with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) deepened, and digital integration of expenditure and project data expanded to guarantee future reports are timely and credible.
“The delay should not be seen as backsliding but as a reflection of the care taken to ensure accuracy and credibility in Nigeria’s fiscal reporting during an exceptional budget cycle,” the Office noted.
According to the statement, by September’s end, the Budget Office will publish the full-year 2024 report together with the outstanding Q1–Q2 2025 updates, after which quarterly releases will resume as scheduled.
“Our commitment to transparency, timeliness, and accountability remains unwavering,” it assured.
