A bus conductor is currently in custody of the Lagos State Police Command after he stabbed an officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) during enforcement of traffic rules at an area in the state.
The conductor of the Volkswagen yellow commercial bus, Lekan Olasunkanmi, carried out the act during a routine traffic enforcement operation at Ile-Epo Market, inward Abule-Egba, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
According to reports, the driver of the commercial vehicle resisted lawful enforcement procedures and as a result of the escalation of events, the conductor brought out a screwdriver and attacked the LASTMA officer, inflicting a stab wound during the altercation.
The injured officer was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where he received medical attention and discharged.
Consequent upon the attack, the matter was promptly reported at the Abattoir Police Division, while the conductor was apprehended and taken into police custody for further investigation into his shameful act.
During his interrogation, the conductor admitted using a the screwdriver to stab the officer, adding that he did it by mistake.
He is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation into his nefarious act.
