The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan in Kaduna State on Saturday, February 7, announced the killing of three persons, abduction of a priest, Reverend Father Nathaniel Asuwaye and 10 others during early morning attack by terrorists.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday as the priest was abducted inside the rectory of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Karku, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, under the diocese.

The diocese, in a statement, said those killed in the area during the attack were Mr Jacob Dan’azumi, Mr Maitala Kaura and Alhaji Kusari

It wrote: “Father Nathaniel was kidnapped alongside ten other people in Karku, Lere LGA of Kaduna State, Nigeria. This terrible event (his abduction) occurred at about 3:20 a.m. at his residence and the situation was described by the villagers as an act of invasion by a group of terrorists.

“We kindly invite all priests, Christian faithful and men and women of goodwill to pray for Father Nathaniel, the other ten people and the repose of the souls of those who were killed during the attack.”
