The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the redeployment and appointment of senior officers into key command, instructional, and staff positions across various formations and units of the Nigerian Army.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, the decision represents a “strategic move to strengthen leadership and reposition the Nigerian Army (NA) for greater operational effectiveness.”
The reshuffle affects several Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the Army Headquarters, two General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions, and Brigade Commanders, among other senior officers.
At the Army Headquarters, Major General A.A. Adeyinka has been posted from the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (NACST) to the Department of Army Logistics where he will serve as Chief of Logistics (Army). Similarly, Major General A.A. Adekeye moves from the Department of Standard and Evaluation to the Department of Personnel Management as Chief of Personnel Management (Army). Major General T.B. Ugiagbe has also been appointed Chief of Standard and Evaluation, while Major General A.A. Idris takes over as Chief of Military Intelligence (Army). In addition, Major General M.O. Erebulu assumes duty as Provost Marshal (Army).
Other notable postings include Major General E.A. Anaryu, who has been redeployed from the Defence Space Administration to serve as Corps Commander, Supply and Transport, while Major General S.A. Akesode moves from the Office of the National Security Adviser to Ethiopia as Head of Mission for the African Union Verification Mission in the Tigray Region. Major General J.E. Osifo has also been appointed Director General, Nigerian Army Finance Corporation.
For the General Officer Commanding (GOC) positions, Major General A.S.M. Wase has been deployed to Headquarters 1 Division, where he will also double as Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY). Likewise, Major General C.R. Nnebeife has been appointed GOC 2 Division and Commander, Sector 3 JTF OPFY.
The redeployment also extends to Army training institutions. Major General M.O. Ihanuwaze is now Commandant, Nigerian Army Finance School and Administration, while Major General K.O. Osemwegie assumes command of the Army Signal School. Major General A.J. Aliyu has been named Commandant, Nigerian Army Ordnance School, and Major General A.C. Adetoba takes over as Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management.
In addition, several Brigade Commanders have been reassigned. Brigadier General M. Jimoh moves from Headquarters Operation FANSAN YAMMA to command 1 Brigade; Brigadier General N.E. Okoloagu has been deployed from the Army War College Nigeria to 2 Brigade as Commander; while Brigadier General A.A. Bello will now lead 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3 JTF South South, Operation DELTA SAFE.
While charging the officers to bring renewed energy and commitment to their new assignments, the Chief of Army Staff urged them to remain resolute in sustaining the ongoing fight against terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats confronting the nation. He further assured them that the welfare of troops would remain a top priority in driving operational successes.
