The corpse of a Nigerian citizen living in the United Kingdom has been discovered inside his apartment five days after he died of an unknown cause.
The man, whose name was given as Chiowa Obeigbe, was said to have died in his home at Gloucester, where he was apparently living alone.
A member of the executive of the Nigerian in UK Community, popularly known as Oluomo of Derby, announced the sad news on his verified X handle, as he added that policemen received calls from neighbours apparently following odours coming out from his apartment.
It was gathered that though his international passport revealed that he was from Imo State, no one knows his relatives neither does anyone in the UK know any member of his family.
He also posted the driving licence the man obtained in UK.
He therefore said if anyone in Nigeria recognises him or has any information about his family, such a person should help get in touch with them so that arrangements can be made to return his body home.
He wrote: “Nigerians at home and abroad, please assist in any way you can. This is an urgent matter.
“This young man, Mr. Chiowa Obeigbe, sadly passed away in his home in Gloucester, UK, and was not discovered for five days.
“At the moment, no one knows his relatives or has been able to reach his family. He is said to be from Imo State, Nigeria.
“If anyone recognises him or has any information about his family, please help us get in touch with them or please send me a DM so arrangements can be made to return his body home.”
