Covid-19 Vaccine: Nigeria, Africa will have access by January ending, says Okono-Iweala
Former Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has assured Nigeria and other African countries of having access to COVID-19 vaccines beginning from the end of January 2021.
Okonjo-Iweala gave the assurance after a closed-door meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama in Abuja.
A statement issued by the Ministry of foreign Affairs quoted Okonjo-Iweala saying “As long as one person has it in the world, no one is safe. And that is why poorer countries, lower middle-income countries like Nigeria, need to get it as quickly as possible,” NAN reported.
She noted that the Pfizer vaccine and AstraZeneca were presently being negotiated so that poor countries don’t have to stand in a queue behind rich countries.
Nigeria has recorded low figure of covid-19 incidence, this Okonjo-Iweala attributed to be a blessing.
