The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 21 individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud in Bauchi State.

The suspects were apprehended during a raid conducted by the EFCC’s Gombe Zonal Directorate on Saturday at Kaure New Government Reservation Area and Awala, Maiduguri Road in Bauchi.

According to a statement released by the EFCC on Monday, the operation followed credible intelligence linking the suspects to cybercrime activities.

During the raid, the Commission recovered several luxury items from the suspects, including a BMW car, a Toyota Camry, three PlayStation 5 consoles, 30 expensive phones, a flat-screen television, six Point of Sale (POS) machines, four iPads, and five laptops.

The EFCC has confirmed that the arrested individuals will face prosecution once investigations are completed. The Commission emphasized that the suspects are alleged to be involved in internet-related fraud, and legal proceedings will proceed following a thorough investigation into their activities.

The EFCC’s statement concluded, “The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
