Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, on Wednesday, March 11, summoned the nation’s service chiefs to a high-level meeting over escalating attacks targeting military installations, particularly in the North East region.
The summons comes in response to recent deadly assaults by terrorists on military bases in the North-East where reports said some commanding officers and soldiers were killed.
At the meeting, the minister was said to have emphasised the need to review and strengthen strategies against the insurgents.
General Musa reportedly noted that while Nigerian forces have sustained casualties, the terrorists have suffered significantly higher losses in recent engagements.
The summon also follows broader efforts by the minister to enhance coordination and innovation in counter-terrorism operations, including the recent introduction of monthly operational briefings aimed at eradicating terrorism, insurgency, and banditry nationwide.
