Katsina State is in the news again for the wrong reason as gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded a town in the state, killed 15 persons, injured others, abducted some and razed a number of houses and vehicles in a deadly night raid.
The gunmen invaded the Dansoda town in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Tuesday night on motorcycles, killing the residents and setting several houses and vehicles ablaze unchallenged.
It was gathered that when the gunmen arrived, they shot sporadically at anything and anyone on sight which led to the instant death of 15 residents while others got injured.
The attackers did not stop there, as they set houses and vehicles ablaze before leaving the village with an unspecified number of captives.
A source close to the local government area told Impact Nigeria News Online on Wednesday morning that while the bandits were having a field day causing mayhem and killing, some of the residents who fled into the surrounding bushes made distress calls to security agencies but they reportedly didn’t get any response till after the marauders left.
The source added that the fresh attack raises questions about the effectiveness of recent peace arrangements made with some communities in the local government.
It was also gathered that the bandits have continued to strike several communities across the Katsina South Senatorial District while the state government and security agencies seem to be looking the other way during the various attacks.
