Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Sunday, February 22, disclosed that they arrested a man who was found with the sum of N13.5 million inside a vehicle parked beside a polling booth during the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council election held on Saturday.

The EFCC also disclosed that 20 persons were apprehended at various polling booths during the election for vote buying, vote selling to the tune of N17.2 million as well as obstructing its officers from performing their duties.

The anti graft agency said the man found with N13.5 million was arrested at the polling booth in the Kwali Area Council which he apparently wanted to use to buy votes.

The agency added that two of those arrested were picked up in Abaji while nine were apprehended in Gwagwalada. Four were arrested in Kuje and Kwali areas for buying and selling of votes.

They are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation into their activities during the election exercise.

It will be recalled that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won five out of the six Area councils chairmanship seats while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got one chairmanship position.
