The Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday grilled the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Saleh Abdullahi Usman, over allegation of embezzling money meant for this year’s pilgrimage exercise running into billions of naira.
A very competent source at the anti graft agency disclosed that he was grilled at the headquarters of the commission for more than eight hours after he arrived there, released on bail and was asked to report at the headquarters everyday.
The source added that the Presidency had earlier revoked his security clearance that enabled him have access to Aso Rock and he was invited by the commission following various petitions written against him.
Recall that the commission was enmeshed in fraud allegation shortly after the completion of this year’s Hajj exercise as some of the pilgrims lodged various complaints, especially regarding their welfare and accommodation in Mecca and Medina.
