The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, October 29, returned various properties, including houses, cars and cash taken by a notorious fraudster, popularly known as Baba Osun, from his victim under the guise of conducting “spiritual cleansing” for him.
Baba Osun, also known as Baba Abore, whose name is Fatai Olalere Alli, used to call people alongside his gang members on phone to inform them of various spiritual and family problems afflicting them, after which he will tell his victims to get a white ram or while pigeons for sacrifice.
Some residents of Ibadan in Oyo State and those in Osun State have fallen for his antics.
It was gathered that the EFCC returned the properties comprising a five-bedroom duplex at Kasumu village in Odo-ona Elewe, a bungalow of two three bedroom flat at Lapiti layout, Akanran road, Amuloko and a three-bedroom bungalow at Idi Ayunre.
Others are one Honda Pilot SUV and a Toyota Corolla car and the sum of N1.1 million.
It was gathered that the recoveries were handed over to the victim following a final forfeiture order by Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan in a fraud case.
Baba Osun was found guilty of conniving with his syndicate and swindled the victim under the pretext of providing spiritual cleansing to counter and erase visions of untimely death of the victim.
“Alli was first prosecuted on a 33-count charge but later amended to one-count charge in the course of the trial. He was convicted and sentenced to three years imprisonment and ordered to undertake with the Department of State Services (DSS) that he would be of good behavior without getting involved in any criminal activity again,” the EFCC said.
