The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said the results of candidates who sat for the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be released before midnight on Friday.
JAMB disclosed this in a statement signed by its Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, on Friday, April 17.
The statement noted that candidates who participated in the examination on Thursday, April 16, would be able to access their results once processing is completed later in the day.
“This is to inform all candidates who sat for the 2026 UTME on Thursday, 16th April 2026, that their results will be released today before midnight,” the statement read.
JAMB added that an official announcement would be made and published on its platform as soon as the results are available.
The board further advised candidates to monitor the board’s official communication channels for updates on the release of their results.
Recall that the 2026 UTME, with over two million registered candidates expected to sit for the examination across accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide on Thursday, April 16, is expected to be concluded on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
JAMB had earlier announced that candidates who registered for the 2026 UTME should proceed to print their examination slip.
During the first day of the examination on Thursday, an ad hoc staff at Esther Oshikoya Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre in Ibadan, Oyo State, restricted hijab-wearing candidates from entering the centre.
The incident was captured in a video, which quickly went viral across social media on Thursday, showing hijab-wearing candidates for the 2026 UTME being asked to remove their hijabs during a screening exercise at the CBT Centre.
However, in a statement on Thursday signed by its Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB said it intervened immediately after being alerted to the incident and called the official involved to order.
The board dismissed the action as that of an “overzealous” ad hoc staff, adding that it directed that no candidate wearing hijab should be asked to remove or alter it.
