The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari were laid to rest on Sunday evening at his private residence in Daura, Katsina State, following his death after a prolonged illness at the age of 82.
His body arrived in Katsina from London at approximately 2:00 p.m. and was transported to Daura, his hometown, for burial. The late president died at The London Clinic, where he had been receiving treatment.
At about 4:33 p.m., his remains—draped in the Nigerian flag and accompanied by President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other dignitaries—arrived at his residence. An Islamic funeral prayer was observed at the helipad where the chopper landed, after which President Tinubu led a solemn procession to the graveside.
Buhari was buried at approximately 5:50 p.m., with Vice President Shettima among those who lowered his body into the grave. Military officers, family members, and prominent political figures were present to pay their final respects.
Prior to the interment, the former president was accorded full military honours, including a gun salute.
