Gombe governor bags state competitiveness and good governance award

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state has received an award for the most improved state in ‘promotion of economic emancipation and poverty alleviation’ for his exemplary performance in governance.

The Governor received the award at the 2019 States Competitiveness and Good Governance award ceremony, organized by Business Day Newspapers at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja.

The event, with the theme: ‘Celebrating Leaders Who Serve’, was chaired by former Head of state, General Yakubu Gowon and witnessed by National Assembly members, the Etsu Nupe, Emir of Fika among other dignitaries.

It also featured presentation of other categories of awards to other recipients, including Governors of Ekiti, Kaduna, Ebonyi, Taraba, Imo, Enugu, Jigawa and Yobe states who were all represented.

The Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of Business Day Newspapers,  Frank Aigbogun had earlier in the notice of award, said the award committee found Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration worthy of commendation in rural development,  primary healthcare and agricultural development in addition to its human capital development strides.

With education seen as the means and sure way to economic emancipation, the award committee commended Gombe state Governor for setting the bar and placing the people on the pedestal of sustainable growth and glorious future.

The organisers believe that the fiscal adjustment measures put in place by the Governor to reduce cost of governance are steps in the right direction, lauding the administration to bolster its priority projects and programmes meant to alleviate poverty and enhance economic emancipation of the citizenry.

Governor Yahaya was represented at the ceremony by his Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity), Ismaila Uba Misilli and the Special Adviser, Abuja Liaison,  Alhaji Usman Aliyu Garry.
