Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a 300-level student of the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University in Katsina State, demanding N20 million ransom for his release.
The gunmen abducted Auwal Mas’ud Shitu, a Pure and Industrial Chemistry student of the university, last Sunday while travelling from Charanchi to Dutsin-Ma in the state.
It was gathered that a few hours after his abduction, the gunmen established contact with his family members, demanding the sum of N20 million as ransom in order to release him.
A source in the state told Impact Nigeria News Online on Monday morning that as of now, the family has been negotiating with the abductors regarding reduction of the ransom while they have also been running around to seek for money.
In another sad development, on Sunday night, bandits invaded Maigora town in Faskari Local Government Area of the state, attacked the residence of a man, whose name was given as Sagir Abuga, carting away valuables after inflicting injuries on him.
They also killed a resident of the community and went away with an unspecified number of persons and livestock.
The attack was said to have occurred at the community that is a few kilometres to a security checkpoint.
