Some gunmen suspected to be bandits have invaded a community in Kaduna State, abducting seven members of the same family as well as three other residents.
The gunmen, riding motorcycles, invaded Unguwar Sabon-Titi in Kachia Local Government Area of the state on Thursday night, shooting sporadically into the air and attacking residents before going away with the ten persons.
A source in the state told Impact Nigeria News Online on Friday night that though some residents fled when they got a hint that the marauders were coming, but when they arrived, they started moving from one house to another, and they eventually abducted the seven family members comprising a father, his two wives and other relations.
As of the time of this report, the gunmen are yet to establish contact with the families of the captives regarding payment of ransom.
In a related development, gunmen around 1:00 a.m. on Friday also attacked Achida town in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing two persons and abducting more than 20 residents including men, women and children.
They were said to have arrived the town when the residents were already in bed, shooting at anything in sight.
According to reports, the bandits were angry because the residents of the town were unable to pay the levy imposed on them and after the deadline elapsed, they resorted to coming into the town to carry out the attack.
The tragic incident showed the deepening security crisis facing communities in Sokoto East Senatorial District, while the Achida town has been constantly under attacks by bandits.
