Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he trusts Nicolas Jackson to lead the club’s attack over Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen. Speaking on Mikel Obi’s Obi One podcast, the Dutchman expressed doubts about Osimhen’s ability to adapt to the Premier League, despite his success in Serie A.
“Osimhen? I’m not convinced he’ll perform in the Premier League. Spain or Italy, yes — but not here,” Hasselbaink said. “I really like Jackson. People think I’m crazy, but he brings energy, pressing, work rate — things people don’t always see.”
While acknowledging Jackson’s poor finishing at times, Hasselbaink believes there’s room for improvement. “He gets a lot of chances, which is a good thing. We can make him calmer in front of goal. He’s young and still learning.”
Jackson has scored 30 goals and recorded 12 assists in 80 appearances for Chelsea, trailing only Cole Palmer over the last two seasons. With the Blues securing Liam Delap and Joao Pedro under new manager Enzo Maresca, a move for Osimhen appears unlikely. That could open the door for Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, or Galatasaray to pursue the prolific Nigerian forward.
