Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has once again made history, this time partnering with food brand Gino to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
The record-breaking feat took place on Victoria Island, Lagos, where Baci and her team prepared an astonishing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds 9 ounces) of the West African delicacy.
Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement, marking it as the largest serving of jollof rice ever recorded globally. The event not only showcased Nigerian culinary excellence but also drew thousands of food lovers, celebrities, and dignitaries who gathered to witness the historic cooking marathon.
Hilda Baci, who rose to international fame in 2023 after her Guinness World Record cook-a-thon, said the latest achievement was about “celebrating Nigerian food culture on a global stage.”
Jollof rice, a beloved dish across West Africa, is often at the centre of playful rivalries between countries, with Nigeria, Ghana, and Senegal claiming to make the best version. With this record, Nigeria’s culinary pride was once again placed in the spotlight.
The prepared jollof was distributed to attendees, charities, and communities across Lagos, ensuring the effort also had a social impact beyond its world-record status.
