Hilda Baci, Nigerian celebrity chef, has received her second Guinness World Record plaque, which officially recognises her successful attempt at cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
Guinness World Records, by the recognition, confirmed that Baci cooked the largest ever pot of jollof rice weighing 8,780 kilogrammes during a Lagos cookout in September.
The global recognition is the second global recognition and comes a little over a year after Baci earned her first Guinness title for completing a 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon in May 2023.
With both records, Baci becomes Nigeria’s first chef to hold multiple Guinness World Records.
In photos of her new plaques shared in a series of posts on Instagram on Thursday, November 6, the celebrity chef said the double recognition is a story of “faith, fire, and history,” adding that both records celebrated Nigeria’s creativity and culinary excellence.
She wrote: “Our plaques are finally here!!! Two records. Two plaques. One story of faith, fire, and history. Twice, God showed up for me. Twice, we made history for Nigeria.
“And not just any records, two of the biggest culinary records ever set. Together with Gino, we created something bigger than ourselves, a story that reached over five billion people and reminded the world what’s possible when passion meets purpose.
“I’m a two-time world record holder, someone pinch me.”
Baci also quoted Isaiah 61:7, saying her journey was proof that “instead of shame, you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace, you will rejoice in your inheritance.
“And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.”
Baci’s attempt to prepare the largest pot of jollof rice had over 20,000 food lovers, celebrities and influencers in attendance.
In line with Guinness verification standards, every portion of the massive jollof dish was distributed to guests and charity groups.
The recognition has continued to generate lots of congratulatory messages from Nigerians across various social media platforms.
