A man described as an ex-convict has been arrested by men of the Ondo State Police Command for beating his girlfriend to death over a dispute regarding the sum of N100,000 she borrowed him.
The state police command announced the incident on its Facebook page on Tuesday evening, saying the ex-convict, Ademola Omokinwa, aged 37 years, beat up the lady, Joy Jimoh, at Idanre area of the state.
It was gathered that a woman living at the building where the incident occurred reported at the Idanre Divisional Headquarters of the command that the man beat up his girlfriend over a dispute concerning the refund of the money.
The command wrote: “The report revealed that during the dispute, the man became violent and beat up the lady repeatedly until she became unconscious. She was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention where she was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.”
The command added that following the information received, the Divisional Police Officer led his men to the scene where the ex-convict was arrested.
“The remains of the deceased were thereafter deposited at the morgue for postmortem examination while preliminary investigation has commenced,” the command added.
According to the command, the man has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) where he had given more useful information to the operatives regarding the incident.
