A self-acclaimed Archbishop of a church in Delta State has been arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after her church members were seen spraying naira notes on a live cow during a programme inside the church.
The “female Archbishop,” Angel Oyeghe, was arrested by the operatives of the Benin zonal command of the anti graft body and accused of conspiracy, naira mutilation and money laundering.
The woman, who is the founder of Faith Healing Ministry, Warri, Delta State, was arrested after a video went viral where some individuals under her supervision were seen spraying the naira notes of various denominations on the live cow.
In the video, the individuals who are members of the church were seen dancing round the cow right inside the auditorium of the church and spraying the money on the cow while others threw money on the floor, to the delight of the woman and some who sat at the ‘altar.’
According to the EFCC in a statement on the matter, “Archbishop Oyeghe” has given useful statement to the operatives and she will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation. Also, efforts are being intensified to arrest other who are currently on the run.
The EFCC has been on the trail of those who abuse the nation’s currency, especially at ceremonies, and has arrested some of them who have also been charged to courts.
