A woman who wailed and told a court in Kwara State that she did not know how to take care of her six children after her husband insisted in divorce slumped in the court and was revived by officials.
The confusion played out at an Area Court in Ilorin, the state capital, on Thursday, October 16, when the woman, Mulikat Yusuf, slumped after her husband, Ishaq Abdulganiyu, insisted that nothing will stop him from divorcing her as he was no longer interested in the marriage.
Following the insistence of the man, his estranged wife told the court that she was not ready for divorce after giving birth to six children, wondering where she would go and how she will take care of the children.
She was deep in thought as she walked out of the court after hearing her husband’s application for divorce and suddenly, she slumped.
The court officials outside made frantic efforts to revive her by pouring water on her.
However, after the incident and when the case resumed, the judge, Mr Toyin Aluko, advised her to explore every opportunity within her reach to settle the misunderstanding between her and her husband.
The judge thereafter adjourned the matter till December 10 while hoping that there will be amicable settlement of the issue between the couples.
