A man who was arrested for posing as a medical doctor has told men of the Niger State Police Command that he used to administer medications and injections on his patients and collect N30,000 from each of them.
The man, whose name was given as Aminu Yusuf, aged 35 years, was arrested on Monday, August 24, around 4:30 at Unguwan-Tukura, Kotangora area of the state while going about as a medical doctor.
In the course of his interrogation, he was said to have told police operatives that he used to administer medications on different persons, he also gave injections to a lady and other women and collected the sum of N30,000 from each of them.
He added that he neither had any medical background nor licence to operate as a doctor, adding that he did so because his community lacked medical personnel to treat residents.
He was said to have given more useful information to the police operatives and he has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more interrogation and he is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
In another development, on the same day around 8:00 p.m., information was received at ‘B’ Division, Kotangora that one Hassan Adamu and Bashar Isah, both of Usubu area of Kotangora were seen with a suspected stolen motorcycle at Usubu area.
The police patrol team of the division moved to the location and rescued the two men from the agitated crowd who gathered at the scene to lynch them and they were taken into custody.
During interrogation, they confessed to have stolen the motorcycle on the same date around 3:00 a.m. from a residence at Federal Low Cost area, Kotangora.
They will also be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation into their nefarious activities by the operatives.
