A 57-year-old man who was arrested for allegedly defiling the six-year-old daughter of his wife has told men of the Edo State Police Command that he carried out the act multiple times.
The stepfather, whose name was given as Kadiri Edenokun, from the Auchi area of the state, was arrested by men of the command following report lodged by the mother of the girl who incidentally is his wife.
Following the complaint lodged, the police operatives went to the man’s house where he was arrested while the girl was taken for treatment under the care of the state Ministry of Women Affairs.
“During his interrogation, the stepfather confessed to committing the offence multiple times,” the command said in a statement on Wednesday, September 16.
He was said to have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more investigation and he is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
In another development, the command said its men have recovered the second and remaining Toyota Highlander stolen during the robbery at the residence of Mr Kennedy Odion, Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state on September 6.
Following credible intelligence, the black Toyota Highlander, with registration number LSR 729 HY, was tracked down and recovered along 3rd Cemetery Street, off New Lagos Road, New Benin, by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).
