A cultist who belongs to the Eiye Confraternity group and who was arrested with a locally-fabricated pistol has told men of the Delta State Police Command that he had been using the gun since his secondary school days.

The cultist, who gave his name as Friday Oghenemarho, was arrested in Ozoro when he and his friend, who is currently at large, were on a motorcycle.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Bright Edafe, who uploaded a video where the cultist, who said he is a tailor, was being interrogated, said when the crossbag the man carried was searched, the pistol was found inside while his friend jumped down from the motorcycle and fled.

During the interrogation, Friday said: “I am a tailor. I was a member of cult group in secondary school. I belong to the Eiye Confraternity. They gave me the gun in school because I was the Number 2 of the group in our school. I am 26 years old and I finished secondary school in 2021.

“I was only going about with the gun just for protection against rival cult groups when the police officers arrested me. I stopped my education at secondary school. I could not proceed because of money. I am now regretting my involvement in cultism.”

The state police command has been grappling with the activities of various criminal groups including cultists, armed robbers, kidnappers, among others, terrorising residents of various parts of the state.

Some of those arrested had been charged to courts after the conclusion of investigation into their nefarious activities.
