A man who killed his elder brother with a big stone has told men of the Oyo State Police Command that he carried out the act because the brother shot him in his dream.

The man, Lateef Suleiman, aged 43 years, was said to have attacked his elder brother, Mustapha Amidu, aged 52 years, on Monday, March 2, at Alegunlode Compound in the Sepeteri area of the state following an accusation that the deceased shot him in a dream while he was asleep the previous night.

He reportedly approached the elder brother where he was seated, picked a heavy stone, struck him on the head, causing the man to slump in a pool of his blood. He thereafter fled the scene.

One of their neighbours was said to have reported the incident at the Ago Amodu Divisional Headquarters which made police officers to race to the scene.

The officers promptly rushed the elder brother to Ileri Oluwa Hospital, Sepeteri, for medical attention, where he was confirmed dead by the medical doctor on duty.

“Upon receipt of the report, a team of police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer, Ago-Amodu, visited both the scene of the incident and the hospital as part of preliminary investigative procedures.

“The suspect has since been arrested, has confessed to the crime, and is currently cooperating with investigators,” the command said in a statement on Wednesday, March 4.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and he is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation into his nefarious activities.
