Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, on Thursday, February 12, threatened to “spill more beans” over the meeting former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had with former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, alongside the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
Fayose stated this on his X handle following a statement credited to Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, as the former governor said he would give Atiku 48 hours to disown the statement and if the former vice president refused to do so, he would “spill more beans.”
Fayose had, on Wednesday, taken Makinde to the cleaners, saying the Oyo State governor demanded for the vice presidential ticket as a condition for defecting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during the meeting with Babangida at his Uphill Mansion in Minna, the Niger State capital.
He also alleged that Makinde promised to donate the sum of N10 billion to the party in order to make the party stronger financially.
However, on Thursday, Fayose said he was surprised about the statement attributed to Atiku’s media aide, adding that he believed that the former vice president did not authorise it
He wrote: “I saw the response of one Paul Ibe, one of the Media Aides to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to my release on what transpired at his (Atiku) meeting in Minna, with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and I can’t but be amused.
“However, because of my respect for Atiku, I will want to assume that he did not authorise the press statement and I will expect that after seeing it, he will, within 48 hours, cause a rebuttal to be issued on it.
“Should Atiku not publicly disown the statement within the next 48 hours, I will have no option but to spill more beans (the facilitators and executioners) of the Minna meeting, particularly what was said about Wike and by then, I will be doing so without any atom of respect for him.
“Till then, we keep our gunpowder dry.”
