I’m disappointed in Buhari over Boko Haram rehabilitation – Senator Ndume
Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South senatorial constituency, has berated President Muhammadu Buhari-led government for rehabilitating repentant members of Boko Haram.
Ndume, who is also Chairman of the Senate Committee, said this on Wednesday at the closed-door budget defense session with the Nigerian Army.
He is of the view that the government’s deradicalizing of ex-Boko Haram members is a misplacement of priority. He accused Buhari’s government pampering former terrorists while the country is still at war.
The senator who said he is highly displeased with the resettlement of the repentant Boko Haram members advised the government to keep members of the dreaded terrorist group who are captured during military operations as prisoners of war to face trial in accordance with the law of the country.
Ndume said he has evidence that the recent “Damboa attack was carried out by a repentant Boko Haram member.”
“The repentant Boko Haram member was feeding the terror group information regarding the movement of the army,” he added
