JSS 3 students of Prince Academy in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state have reportedly been abducted by gun-men.

The JSS 3 students were said to be preparing for their examination when they were abducted yesterday.

According to report, the gunmen first raided houses in the Damba-Kasaya community in Chikun LGA before heading to the school.

An eye-witness account reveals that the gunmen came “in a large number like they always do” and were shooting intermittently throughout the operation.

Bawa Wakili who recounts the incident complained about the state of security in the area, stating that he relocated to Damba-Kasaya a couple of months ago after an attack on Rumana Gbagyi, his village, still in Chikun LGA.

He said “They abducted many people in the village, then they went to Prince Academy and abducted many of the students who were receiving lessons for their JSS3 exams.

“I cannot say how many people were kidnapped, but they went away with many people. Soldiers who came to the rescue, turned back after a few kilometres, leaving some of the villagers who accompanied them to rescue the victims.

“The villagers, not knowing that the soldiers had withdrawn, kept pursuing the bandits in the bush, the bandits fired at them and one person was killed.”

Report states that the gunmen, who killed one person and abducted many of the villagers, later stormed Prince Academy to abduct Junior Secondary School (JSS3) students receiving lessons preparatory to their final exams.

The Kaduna state police command’s spokesman, ASP Muhammad Jalige, said he was going to get details of the incident from DPO in charge of the area.
