The Kano State government has charged the former governor of the state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his wife, and six other individuals to court over multiple counts of corruption, misappropriation, and diversion of funds amounting to billions of naira.

The defendants in the fresh suit filed before a State high court include Ganduje’s son, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd., Safari Textiles Ltd., and Lesage General Enterprises.

According to the charges filed by the prosecution counsel, the allegations against the All Progressives Congress national chairman include soliciting and receiving bribes, collecting kickbacks from contractors, and converting public funds for personal use.

The charges detail alleged corruption and financial misconduct during Ganduje’s tenure as Governor of Kano State.

Furthermore, the suit implicates Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, and several companies in schemes involving the misappropriation of funds earmarked for purchasing and supplying essential medical equipment and the illegal allocation of land for personal gain.

The prosecution has listed 15 witnesses to support their case, and the trial date is yet to be determined.
