An early morning incident on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport’s Zulu Terminal descended into chaos after Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, missed his scheduled Air Peace flight and allegedly reacted with physical aggression and obstruction.
Flight P47120 to Abuja was set to depart at 6:30 a.m., with Air Peace confirming that boarding had closed when the senator arrived at 6:10 a.m. – twenty minutes before departure, but beyond the cutoff time for boarding under standard aviation protocol. Denied entry onto the flight, Oshiomhole allegedly became enraged, confronting airline staff, assaulting personnel, and creating a blockade within the terminal.
Eyewitnesses report that the senator used airport furniture to barricade the terminal checkpoint, effectively halting the movement of other passengers and creating significant disruptions. Tensions ran high as airport security and airline officials attempted to de-escalate the situation.
Air Peace responded swiftly by activating a contingency plan, rerouting affected passengers through an alternate terminal to limit delays. In a strongly worded statement issued later in the day, the airline condemned Oshiomhole’s behaviour as “unruly” and emphasized that no individual is above established rules and respect for public safety.
The airline confirmed it has submitted formal complaints to the Nigerian Senate, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), demanding accountability.
As of press time, Senator Oshiomhole has not responded publicly, fueling widespread social media outrage and renewed scrutiny over the conduct of public officials.
