A 50-year-old man, Ramoni Seriki, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping his 13-year-old daughter.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, O.O. Kushanu, ordered Seriki’s remand on Friday and declined to take his plea, directing that he remains in custody until September 11. The court said it was awaiting legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Seriki, a commercial transporter residing at 33 Obasa Avenue, Ijegun, Lagos, was arraigned on a charge of sexual assault. According to the prosecution, led by ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, the offence occurred on June 18, 2025, at the defendant’s home.
Mr Ademigbuji said the defendant sexually molested his 13-year-old daughter while she was sleeping.
He said the victim confided in her mother, who had been separated from her father years ago.
According to him, the offence contravenes section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
