In a decisive show of force, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a significant blow to terrorist elements in Niger State, neutralizing scores of fighters and crippling their operations during a series of airstrikes conducted between June 24 and 26, 2025.
The precision strikes, carried out under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1, targeted terrorist hideouts in Kakihun and Kumbashi communities following a spate of attacks and cattle rustling in the region. Acting on credible intelligence and in close coordination with ground forces, the air component launched multiple waves of strikes that destroyed enemy logistics and disrupted their regrouping efforts.
Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the swift deployment of air assets showcased the Nigerian Air Force’s growing capacity for rapid response and effective joint operations. “These precision strikes not only neutralized numerous terrorists but also demonstrated the professionalism and synergy among the Armed Forces and security agencies,” he said.
Local sources reported heightened aerial activity during the operation and observed a sharp decline in terrorist movement in the days following the strikes.
Security experts praised the operation as a model of coordinated military response, crediting its speed and precision with averting further attacks on civilians and livestock.
The successful mission highlights the federal government’s intensified campaign to degrade terror networks and restore stability across troubled regions, particularly in the North-Central and North-West. Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains a key element of Nigeria’s counter-terrorism strategy, blending air and ground power to combat insurgency.
