The men of the Agege Divisional Headquarters of the Lagos State Police Command have been accused of demanding the sum of N200,000 in order to track a houseboy who stole his boss’ phone and used it to withdraw all the money in the man’s bank account.
The son of the man made the accusation in a message addressed to the Nigeria Police Force on his X handle where he said the officers made the demand after the boy’s guarantor was apprehended and taken to the station.
In a swift reaction however, the Nigeria Police Force, through its Complaint Response Unit (CRU), urged him to provide more details, including his contact, for further investigation into the matter.
The son disclosed that his family members hired a houseboy to take care of his father and after spending some months in the house, one night, he vanished from home and went away with the father’s phone.
A few hours after disappearing, the father started receiving debit alerts which indicated that all the money in his bank account had been withdrawn.
The son added that since the houseboy could not be located, the family members decided to pick the guarantor, adding that they eventually took him to the Agege Divisional Headquarters.
However, to his shock, when they reported the theft at the police station, he alleged that the officers demanded the sum of N200,000 they told him they needed so as to be able to track the houseboy.
He therefore urged the police authorities to look into the matter so that his family can get justice and his father to get his money back.
