Gunmen belonging to a terrorist group known as Lakurawa on Thursday night attacked a Nigerian Immigration Service checkpoint in Kebbi State, killing three officers of the service in the process.
Lakurawa is a terrorist group operating in Northwest Nigeria and the Sahel region, affiliated with the Islamic State Sahel Province (ISSP).
The group, which emerged around 2016, was officially designated a terrorist organisation by the Federal Government in January 2025.
A competent source in Kebbi State told Impact Nigeria News Online on Friday, November 28, that the terrorists stormed the checkpoint around 10:00 p.m. and caught the officers napping, killing three of them while others fled, before setting the vehicle and shelter ablaze.
As of the time of this report, security agencies were said to have arrived the scene to assess the situation while a manhunt had been launched for the arrest of those involved.
The state government is yet to react to the attack and killing while the Lakurawa terrorist group continues to have a field day in the state.
