The annual Ballon d’or awards ceremony brought all of football’s greats to witness a new era.
After the an outstanding performance in the World Cup leading his team to second place Luka Modric was awarded the coveted award becoming the first Croat to do so.
The award ceremony which took place in France also saw the first female Ballon d’or won by Norwegian International Ada Hegerberg. In her speech she said “This is the most important thing for women’s football, and together we will make a difference,”
Also PSG forward Kylian Mbappe became the first winner of theKopatrophy beating out the likes of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic. After accepting the inaugural Kopa trophy award, the PSG and France forward outlined his gratitude
