A man who was said to have beaten his 15-year-old son to death and buried his corpse inside his family compound at a community in Edo State has been arrested by the men of the state police command.
The 49-year-old man was said to have committed the heinous act at Uhe community, Igueben Local Government Area of the state, on December 5.
According to the state police command in a statement on Sunday, December 14, the man, whose name was not disclosed, beat his son with a stick on the night of December 5, leading to the boy’s death.
After the death of the teenager, the man dug a grave within the compound and buried the son’s corpse.
According to the report, the man’s 82-year-old mother who resides in the same house and who witnessed the incident provided useful information to the police when they got to the house following intelligence reports gathered by them about the man’s act.
The command added: “Following due administrative procedures, the body was exhumed, photographs were taken, and the stick allegedly used in committing the offence was recovered as an exhibit. The suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody, while investigation is ongoing.”
The command said the case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation while the man is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
