A man who used a cutlass to cut the wrist of his neighbour during a physical confrontation over three girls has been arrested by men of the Oyo State capital while the victim is currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
The state police command announced the incident in a statement on Saturday, January 3, saying it occurred at Ologede Village, Tede area of the state.
It was gathered that one Benua Bukari, a farmer, had an altercation with one Sunday James, his neighbour, which escalated into a fight. During the fight, Sunday James was said to have used a cutlass to cut the right wrist of Bukari.
Following the incident, a distress call was made to the police operatives attached to the Tede Divisional Headquarters and after receiving the call, the operatives raced to the scene, leading to the arrest of Sunday James.
The victim was rushed to the hospital by the police, where he is presently receiving medical treatment.
According to the command, The fight stemmed from a disagreement involving three girls residing at Ibudọ Kareem Village, Tede.
“In view of this, the command warns members of the public against taking the law into their hands and advises individuals to always seek lawful, peaceful, and civil means of resolving disagreements without resorting to violence,” the command added.
The arrested man has given more useful information to the police operatives and he will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation into the heinous act.
