A man who used a cutlass to attack and kill his neighbour after accusing him of having an affair with his wife has been arrested by men of the Yobe State Police Command.
The man, Alhaji Hassan Umaru, aged 50 years, was said to have carried out the gruesome act on Sukari Abdul, aged 45 years, at their house in Bundila Village, Gulani Local Government Area of the state, on Sunday around 12:30 p.m.
According to reports, Umaru, after suspecting that Abdul was having an affair with his wife, confronted him and this generated into a fight.
In the course of the fight, the husband attacked the victim with a cutlass, inflicting a fatal injury to his neck that eventually led to his death as a result of excessive loss of blood.
After the act was carried out, some residents made a distress call to the men of the Bara Divisional Headquarters who raced to the scene and rushed the victim to the Bularaba Primary Health Care facility where he was pronounced dead by the medical personnel on duty.
The husband was immediately arrested and the cutlass used to carry out the act was recovered.
During his interrogation, he told the operatives that he used the cutlass on the victim because he was having an affair with his wife.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for more investigation and he is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
