A man has been arrested by men of the Bauchi State Police Command after he was accused of defiling his neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter “five times in one day.”
The man, whose name was given as Baffaji Abba, aged 28 years, was arrested by the operatives attached to the Alkaleri Divisional Headquarters after allegedly committing the shameful act.
It was gathered that the girl’s father reported at the police station that on December 30 around 6:30 p.m., the man lured his daughter into the bathroom and had carnal knowledge of her.
When the man found out and asked his daughter questions, she was said to have told him that the period the man was caught defiling her was the fifth time he had carnal knowledge of her that day.
The state police command, in a statement on Thursday, January 8, disclosed that on receipt of the report, a team of detectives visited the scene, moved the girl to General Hospital, Alkaleri, for immediate medical attention, and arrested the man.
“During interrogation, the suspect willingly confessed to the crime and said he regretted his action as he didn’t know what came over him,” the command wrote.
The man has given more useful information to the police operatives and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more investigation.
He is also expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
