It was an instant jungle justice for a man who entered a community mosque in Kano State on Monday morning and ‘slaughtered’ a worshipper, as a mob descended on him, lynched him to death and went ahead to set where he lives ablaze.
The incident was said to have taken place at Yusuf Garko Mosque, located in Maraba Quarters, Kano State, early on Monday morning.
It was gathered that the worshipper, whose name was given as Ladan Zubairu, a resident of the area, was brutally attacked and his throat slit by someone the police in the state described as ‘unknown assailant’ who had come to the mosque pretending to be a worshipper.
It was gathered that as soon as he carried out the gruesome act and was fleeing from the mosque, he was pursued by an angry mob who caught up with him and lynched him to death. The mob thereafter went to his residence and set it ablaze.
Following the incident, a distress call was received by the Kano State Police Command and its men raced to the scene. The command added that after some hours of tension in the area, normalcy was restored, with security personnel deployed to maintain law and order.
The command added that the police investigation team recovered the victim’s throat from the pocket of the lynched man while the bodies of both of them had been taken to the Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, Kano.
