A man who was said to have travelled from Lagos State to Kano State has been shot dead by gunmen suspected to be bandits after he arrived at the town and boarded a motorcycle on his way home.

Also, the okada rider that carried him was shot dead by the bandits during the journey.

The man, whose name was given as Malam Ahmed Basiru, said to be a driver by profession and from Fulatan community, Rogo Local Government Area of the state, was shot dead along the Makarfi Road minutes after arriving Kano.

It was gathered that Malam Basiru arrived at Yari Motor Park after evening prayer last Saturday. He later boarded the Okada from the Makarfi Bypass to continue his journey home.

However, during the journey, both the man and the Okada rider were attacked on the road and shot dead. The attackers also went away with the motorcycle.

A source in the know of the incident told Impact Nigeria News Online on Monday night that Malam Basiru was buried on Sunday morning in Fulatan community in accordance with Islamic rites while the police have begun a manhunt for the attackers.

In another positive development, on Monday morning, security forces recorded a significant success in Kebbi State after policemen and soldiers killed some terrorists during an operation in Gumki Forest, Kangiwa area of the state.

The operation, which took place around 6:00 a.m., resulted in the recovery of weapons and equipment, including a PKT machine gun with 174 rounds of ammunition, an AK-47 rifle with 14 rounds, four motorcycles, military camouflage, mobile phones and other items.

Security operatives said the area is currently calm, while security forces continue clearance operations to prevent further criminal activities.
