A woman said to be mentally unstable has committed suicide by hanging herself on a tree and leaving behind her husband and four children, it was gathered on Tuesday, October 7.
The Jigawa State Police Command announced the sad incident in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Shiisu Lawan Adam, saying the woman, Adama Hanafi, aged 30 years, decided to end it all at a tree in Sumore Village, Dutse Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that following the incident, a distress call was made to the Yalwawa Divisional Headquarters and after receiving the call, policemen from the station raced to the scene where they found the remains of the woman.
According to the command, the body was taken to the Dutse General Hospital where a doctor examined her and declared her dead. She was then handed over to her family for burial according to Islamic rites.
The command wrote: “Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had been battling mental illness prior to the incident. The deceased left behind her husband and four children.”
