The sum of N10 million was recovered by men of the Kano State Police Command following the killing of two gunmen suspected to be bandits while they were leaving with the ransom they collected for the release of their victim.
According to the command in a statement on Saturday, three bandits believed to have emerged from Falgore Forest and suspected to be from Maigwanda Village, Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State came out to collect a ransom of N10 million demanded for the release of their victim who was kidnapped on September 11 and spent days in captivity.
After collecting the ransom, the victim was released unharmed. However, while they were returning to their hideout in Falgore Forest shortly after collecting the money, they were ambushed by policemen and local hunters known as ‘Yan Bula.’
During the ambush, two of the bandits were killed while the third escaped with injuries.
However, preliminary investigation revealed the identity of one of the killed bandits as Dogo Isah, a commercial motorcycle rider of Maigwanda Village, Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Efforts are currently being intensified by the operatives to comb the area for possible arrest of the fleeing bandit and recovery of their operational weapons while the rescued victim has been debriefed, medically examined and reunited with his family.
