Five passengers were confirmed dead while others sustained varying degrees of injuries on Saturday, October 17, when a trailer carrying diesel rammed into four Micra taxi cabs in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The accident occurred at Aduloju Bus Stop, opposite Dominion City along the Iwo Road-Ojoo stretch of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
It was gathered that the driver of the diesel tanker, who was on top speed, lost control of the vehicle and rammed into four Micra taxi cabs full of passengers..
The impact of the accident left the Micra cars mangled, with victims trapped inside, just as sympathisers made frantic efforts to pull them out.

Officials of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) attributed the accident to suspected brake failure, saying the tanker driver lost control while on top speed.
Operatives of OYRTMA, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Police mobilised to the scene to take the trapped passengers from the vehicles.
As of the time of filing this report, bodies of the passengers were conveyed to the morgue while those injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
