The Nigerian Army has denied shooting protesters at the Lekki toll gate plaza on Tuesday night.
Impact News had reported that hours after Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s declaration of a 24-hour curfew in the state, military personnel opened fire on protesters at Lekki tollgate. The action of the military men was premeditated as street lights to the venue were switched off before the attacks on the protesters.
But reacting, the Army in a statement on its Twitter handle, said its soldiers were not at the scene of the attacks.
However, eye witnesses and videos evidence showed men in military uniform shooting sporadically at the peaceful protesters which resulted to many casualties.
In what appears like conspiracy, the Department of State Services (DSS) has also debunked the allegations circulating on social media that its personnel are aiding pro-SARS supporters and thugs to attack #ENDSARS protesters in Abuja.
The Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya, in a statement on Tuesday, described the allegations levelled against DSS as untrue, which can only be taken as false narratives designed to cast it in the bad image, as well as inflame the protests.
