The recent happenings between Daddy Freeze and Pastor David Ibiyeomie have sprung forth comments by various Nigerians including popular figures.
Popular Nigerian figures Charly Boy and Reno Omkori have hopped into the scene and air their views concerning the incident.
Recall that some days back, daddy freeze reacted to a statement by Bishop Oyedepo who had advised women to remain submissive in their relationships with men.
However, Freeze who is known for countering clerics stated that submission in relationships should be for both parties.
Shortly after this, another man of God Pastor Ibiyeomie blasted the media personality and called him a bastard.
In reaction to Ibiyeomie’s outburst, Charly Boy in a post shared on Instagram said, “So pastor Ibiyeome is saying that The Chief Racketeer, Pastor, Cardinal, Pope, Bishop Oyedepo can’t make mistakes because he’s all knowing? Even in the house of worship he is calling our anointed Daddy Freeez a Bastard?”
Here is a reply from his followers regarding his statement:
Nonyenwaru: “Respect @areafada. You an unapologetically REAL and I wish I can be half as fearless and honest as you are.”
Man_like.dante: “Pls place ur focus on where you need them. Let’s face the government and leave pastors alone sir.”
Another popular figure, controversial lawyer Reno Omokri fault Ibiyeomie for his comments to Freeze, in a post shared on Twitter.
He reminded the man of God that even Jesus Christ was insulted when he was alive.
Omokri while holding that Freeze was wrong on his take about Oyedepo, faulted Ibiyeomie for calling him a bastard.
His tweet: Dear Pastor Ibiyeomie, Christ was insulted, but He did not retaliate.
“When they hurled insults at him, he did not retaliate” -1 Peter 2:23.
“@DaddyFRZ was wrong on Oyedepo. But I know his mother and father. By calling him bastard, you not only insult him. You insult his mother.”
Daddy Freeze, had however released a 10-minute YouTube video in which he addressed Ibiyeomie’s remarks.
In the video he said, “Correcting scripturally is not an insult. Christ was criticized, Paul was criticized, Peter was criticized, even the Pharisees were criticized, so there is no way you are going to preach a message from the scripture that you will not get criticism. I found it very devastating that just to get at me, Pastor Ibiyeomie, would drag the whole Somali nation, I am very proud to associate with Somalians because they are very beautiful people. Beautiful African people like you and I. It is hate speech to undermine them with derogatory words ‘Is he not just a Somalian? To all my fans and followers in Somalia, I love you all and proud to be associated with you, even though by birth I am not a Somalian; my mum is European, my father is Yoruba.”
He continued: “Is this how Nigeria is going to accept this? If anything happens to me, I hope you know who to hold responsible? This has been on social media space for the past 24 hours now, I am yet to hear anything from the police, what happened to our laws on hate speech, racism, discriminatory statements, threat to life which is actually criminal?”
