NIRSAL Microfinance Bank (NMFB) has debunked claims that it disbursed ₦215 billion under the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP), clarifying that the actual amount is ₦51 billion.

In a statement issued Thursday, the bank described the higher figure circulating in the media as false and misleading. NMFB stressed that its verified records and previous public disclosures confirm a disbursement total of ₦51 billion and urged the media and public to disregard the inflated reports.

The bank also expressed concern that inaccurate media coverage could distort public understanding of its operational mandate and contributions to Nigeria’s development finance initiatives. Furthermore, NMFB clarified its distinct legal and operational identity from NIRSAL Plc., noting that although both institutions focus on agricultural and development finance, they operate under separate management and mandates.

NMFB reiterated its commitment to transparency, accurate reporting, and its continued role in supporting MSMEs and agriculture in Nigeria.
