Mmesoma Ilechukwu popularly known as Confidence Doctor is the founder of School of Confidence. An institute set out to help people come out of timidity to a transformed confidence and esteem. In this exclusive interview with our correspondent, Mercy Ezeokonkwo, she shares her definition of confidence, the motivation for carving a niche in confidence, challenges she has faced on this journey. Excerpts;

 May our readers know you?

My name is Mmesoma Ilechukwu and I am a Confidence coach popularly known as the confidence doctor. I help Young minds go from timidity and insecurity to owning a top-notch Confidence. I do that through School of Confidence, an online school aimed at transforming your confidence and Self Esteem towards greatness.

Of all niches, why Confidence?

It’s Confidence because no matter what you are learning, until you build Confidence, you can’t apply knowledge successfully. Confidence is that thing most people don’t give attention to that prevents them from reaching for more in Life.

What does Confidence mean to you?

Confidence means belief to me. Belief on anything at all.

Mmesoma Ilechukwu

What motivates you to do what you do?

God! God motivates me. His will for us motivates me. And that is to fulfill purpose. No one can fulfill purpose without Confidence. Devil keeps building lies like house on the hearts of people with low self-esteem and this breaks me. God’s will for man motivates me. I am honoured to partner with him on this. Again, What I have to share isn’t for me but for those I am called to. They need me. So I show up always.

If you had everything it takes to achieve your dreams, how would you want them done?

First, I will pray about them all because most times we out of our human wisdom go for things we believe we need forgetting that we need to involve the one who has our life all planned out. If not we would struggle. You find yourself going for something you think will launch you into greatness but it goes the other way round. Involving God here is key so I know what he wants me to do for the moment. Again, I will plan, prepare and take actions towards any of them I get a go ahead order from God that I should move.  Also, I will leverage human relationships. Very important. People can answer prayer too. God can use them. They can reduce the long journey through various ways.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

I see myself still as a director of School of Confidence but this time, SOC must have come with lots of improvements. We will employ staff to work with us. And we will have it offline at different branches. In the next five years, I will become much better in my music ministry and I will expand it more by then. I will have a team. In the next five years, I will reach out so that Confidence will be included in the school curriculum.

What were your challenges and how did you pull through them?

Most people want to build Confidence but are not ready to work for it, so they come to school of Confidence expecting me to do magic. Most people are not proud to be in SOC. They don’t want anyone to know they registered, probably because they feel ashamed about it.  But setting up structures for me my business, taking the course on mentorship and being a certified Mentor has helped me a lot.

Any advice for the Nigerian youths?

Get a skill! I am shouting. Get a skill. Government will not provide work for anyone.

Even if they do, it won’t reach everyone. Be creative. Look within and invest in something that will pay off for years. Your skill is going nowhere especially something that isn’t common. Kings Will pay you for it. You can even start something popular and grow. Do it with enough excellence. Make your branding badass.  Most people don’t understand why I founded school of Confidence and I’m taking it this serious because in less than a year, we have set up a lot of structures which includes registering it with CAC. Get a skill, it won’t leave you. Even if you get a job, still get a skill so your financial life won’t depend on someone else again, take personal development seriously. Take foundational courses like writing, public speaking, Confidence. Polish your handwriting, take classes on fashion, it’s not waste of money. Learn what you don’t know. Knowledge gives Confidence too. Distinguish yourself. Nigeria or even the global World isn’t ready to engage anyone who isn’t polished.

Kindly share some of your achievements.

The fact that I made Confidence coaching a thing makes me happy. I have had clients from in and out of Nigeria. We are not just doing *Nigeria*. I am a certified Mentor with Packway Mentors Hub. I’ve had two conferences last year and this year: the Complete Woman Bootcamp and Confident and Complete Conference (CCC 2021). I’ve received awards for my impact so far on the online space. I am also the founder of the fast growing Facebook Community Lions and Lionesses Network (House of Confidence).
